Purpose : The purpose of this study is to examine the effect and prospects of the RCEP on Automotive Industry which is Korea's representative key industry and also an important industry in China, ASEAN, and Japan. Research design, data, methodology : This study analyzed the impact and outlook on the supply chain of the automobile industry due to the entry into force of the RCEP by comparing the actual tariff rate change. The change in the tariff rate due to the entry into force of the RCEP was compared with the existing FTA tariffs by year, and through comparative analysis, import and export measures for each country and the overall applicability of the future supply chain were discussed. Results : As a result of the analysis, the short-term economic effect is not great, but it has been confirmed that there is a potential for mid to long-term economic growth if trade, logistics, and supply chain operation are harmonized by effectively using the RCEP regulations. To maximize this, it will be necessary to establish and implement the following short-term, medium-term, and long-term measures in connection. Conclusions : First, the advantage of RCEP is that it can eliminate the spaghetti bowl effect as the Direct Consignment and Rules of Origin are relaxed. Therefore, if you establish a strategy that can enjoy the maximum benefit within the large supply chain called RCEP with the resources you currently have, you will be able to save additional costs in addition to the superficial reduction in tariffs. Second, Long-term supply chain reorganization is required. From a long-term perspective, it is necessary to prepare for the formation of a new supply chain by considering tariff rates, logistics costs, and regional production costs. Finally, a trade strategy should be established in consideration of the US return to the TPP mentioned in several studies. In the scenario of the US returning to the TPP, the economic, political, and diplomatic gains and losses must be weighed.
